WELCOME TO THE BMF
The Festival in 2021
The 2021 Festival is scheduled to take place on 16 and 17 October 2021.
Currently there is still doubt about what the future holds for live music events because of the Coronavirus pandemic. We hope to run the Festival as normal, but we may be unable to do so. We may have to run a reduced scale or online Festival or even not run it at all.
We usually open entries around the end of February. If we run the Festival as we hope, we will keep the same syllabus and adjudicators as were planned for the cancelled 2020 Festival. This information is still shown on the pages of this website.
Due to the ongoing uncertainty, we will defer the launch of entries this year. The Committee will meet in early April to decide the best way forward, having consulted with the management of the Performing Arts Centre and heeding the Government’s announcements and advice at the time.
Of course, circumstances may change after that and we will have to react accordingly. We will post any developments here so please check back periodically.
Whatever happens we are able to guarantee that if the Festival or any of its classes or performances are cancelled due to Coronavirus, all entrants losing their performance opportunities will receive a full refund.
We hope to see you again in October. Please keep safe.
Chairman, on behalf of the Birmingham Music Festival Committee
The Birmingham Music Festival is one of Britain's leading piano competitions.
We welcome entrants of all ages and all abilities from enthusiastic beginners and gifted amateurs to veteran competitors.
We have a fantastic venue: The Ruddock Performing Arts Centre at King Edward’s Schools, the BMF offers high quality grand pianos in both of our performance theatres and adjudicators to match.
We think the Birmingham Music Festival offers the very best in amateur music making.
We look forward to seeing you at the Festival!
